Graphic Design

There’s a saying in the culinary world that you eat first with your eyes. I believe it’s the same with effective communication. Our eyes are naturally drawn to what captures our attention. Good graphic design takes simple and complex concepts and makes it interesting and easy to understand by the reader. Here are a few of the pieces I’ve created with that manaʻo in mind.

Why you should care about ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi

Released on a personal account, this infographic housed a message about the Hawaiian language that I did not see on social media at the time. So I made it.

Pōhaku Kuʻi ʻAi Chart

As a student of Uncle Earl Kawaʻa’s board and stone class, one of my favorite moments in class is hearing him discuss the anatomy of the pōhaku we carve. Because his way of teaching is oral, as a designer, I felt the call to create it into something visual. This design was originally released on the Office of Hawaiian Affair’s social media platform during my time there.

A timeline I created off of key Hawaiian Language moments in history.
