Building a Kaiaulu Online
Connecting and building community online is more than just a digital interaction; it's about fostering relationships and creating meaningful connections. Through engaging content and authentic interaction, social media becomes a platform where individuals can come together, share ideas, and support our lāhui.
My past experience has allowed me to create content for small businesses like Ka Hui Pālaka and community organizations including the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, the Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards, the Pop-Up Mākeke, and currently the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement.
However, the data behind the post is what fascinates me. My master’s thesis focuses on social media analytics and I firmly believe in using metrics to guide your approach online, to be the most impactful for your audience.

It was a powerful moment that was reshared over and over on social.
Popular lei plants that are not actually Native Hawaiian

Armed with one camera, two lenses, a mic, and a strict 60-minute filming window, we traveled through one of Hawaiʻi’s most heavily-guarded, malihini spaces and found Hawaiian cultural-based healing in a surprising place: Kumu Hina’s classroom in Hālawa Prison.
